Regular maintenance of your valuable sails will help sustain the life of your investment. We recommend and provide a service that ensures your sails are professionally cleaned, inspected, serviced and repaired. The following is a brief description of the sails service we offer at C&J Marine Ltd.
Your sails will be sent away to the UK’s premier Sail Laundry. Utmost care is taken when cleaning sails. They are cleaned and dried thoroughly, and returned to us in a nice protective sleeve, ready for the next stage.
Your sails are then methodically inspected for any signs of general 'wear and tear'.
Frayed or broken stitching and chafing around the edges and corners are vulnerable areas. Particular attention is also paid to sacrificial UV strips on the foot and leech of a roller genoa, cross trees and spreader chafe on overlapping headsails and lazy jack chafe on mainsails (unfortunately some lazy jack systems have sharp pins and edges on the blocks).
Using modern machinery and traditional methods, all repairs are carried out by an experienced sailmaker and machinists who pride themselves on supplying a first class service. Should you like, our sailmaker can discuss any areas of concern with you either in the sail loft or over the telephone.
If your sails need a little ‘tweak’ or a major alteration, absolutely no problem. Our experienced sailmaker will have a conversation with you regarding the area of concern and suggest a solution for you.
UV guard replacements, luff re-cuts, 3rd reef additions and fully battened conversions are some of the regular alterations and modifications we are carrying out, all to a very high standard.

Your clean, dry, and repaired sails can then be securely stored away, free of charge*, at our premises during the close season ready for when you need to use them again in the Spring. We will look after your expensive investment to maximise the life expectancy. After all, your sails are the driving force on your yacht!
